Independent Commission on Youth Crime and Antisocial Behaviour

Consultation paper

Between October 2009 and January 2010, the Independent Commission sought views on its consultation paper Responding to youth crime and antisocial behaviour.

The consultation paper explained why the Commission considers the review it is undertaking in England and Wales is timely. It also invited views in areas of particular interest to the inquiry, which include:

  • Prevention and early intervention
  • Responses outside the youth justice system
  • Youth justice responses (diversion, legal action, community-based sanctions and custody)
  • Age and maturity issues
  • Antisocial behaviour
  • Governance, administration and accountability
  • Costs and cost-effectiveness.

A report summarising the responses we received from more than 70 individuals and organisations can be downloaded below. The consultation document itself can also be downloaded in English or Welsh by clicking on the links.
